Pyromol-E test is based on a dye test that is also used in clinical chemistry as a method of measuring proteins. Impurities in the endoscope contain proteins that can be detected even in small quantities.

Pyromol-E-Test detects protein residues in endoscope channels after manual or automated reprocessing. A blue discoloration on the test brush indicates protein residues in the endoscope channel. A large amount of protein can discolor the entire test.
